Pique is rare and highly collectible. This exquisite pendant is inlaid with a remarkable tiny floral design of gold and silver set into what is almost certainly real tortoiseshell (thankfully, tortoiseshell is illegal to sell in this day and age unless antique.) It's not possible to metal test pique jewelry, but typically precious metals were used.
This piece was sourced in England and the design suggests that it is English and from the mid 1800's but certainly from before 1885 when pique ceased to be made. The craftsmanship is just astonishing. The intricate design reoccurs on both sides.
This particular pendant was originally a single earring, re-purposed to become this unique necklace. The diameter of the piece is approximately 0.5". It hangs from a contemporary 18" gold fill chain (so it sits just below the nape of the neck).
An exceptionally original piece. Expect other people to notice it often.
This pendant will be sent to you from Berlin with tracking number and by registered DHL mail. It comes in a gift box.
