This is an introduction to my new tile series “Lots and parcels”. The series was inspired by contemplation over the concept of land ownership. Having recently purchased my first home, I frequently return to the thoughts about responsibilities that come with owning just about anything, whether it would be a piece of land, a house or any other property. The decisions we make as owners of any property have certain longevity that may extend even after our life span. The “Lots and parcels” series deals with just that.

In a playful, intuitive way I plan out the areal view of each “parcel of land” on individual tiles. My decisions are made arbitrarily and reflect either the reality of the landscape in Central Valley of California, or are purely imaginative depicting a landscape I would like to have in my surroundings. The images are created by brushed , monoprinted and stamped clay slips (engobes) and then enhanced with underglaze pencil line drawing, oxide, glaze washes and silkscreened underglaze. Each individual tile measures approximately 5 x 7” and is one of a kind. This listing is for the tile #6.

Number 6 from the "Lots and Parcels" series. Tile, abstract, modern, natural, neutral, geometric, hand painted.
