The Mei Tai is a traditional Asian baby carrier that allows you to carry the baby in the front, on the back, or on the hip. Its wide straps and even distribution of weight across the back make it very comfortable.

The Mei Tai pattern features a unique internal “X-harness” for extra safety and back support for the baby. There's no hardware or uncomfortable metal rings that pinch. Just pure, flannel-lined cotton. The flip-up head support doubles as a nursing shield. Also included is an optional pocket that doubles as a stuff sack for storage of the Mei Tai when not in use.

Kits available represent a savings of over 15% than if you purchased the fabrics separately. Kits include main fabric in either a FLUF or Mod Green Pod print, or a Mod Green Pod Solid, and a lining in natural 12 oz organic fleece. Please indicate on checkout which fabrics you would like.

Errata for the pattern is as follows:
The second printing of the Mei Tai Baby Carrier (sold May 2009 - November 2009) has an omission of editing: disregard the instruction on the Main Panel pattern piece that says to cut out two panels from cotton flannel for lining - the written instructions are correct.
The pattern includes instructions and full-sized pattern pieces. It is suitable for beginners.
