Antique Button Necklace- Marquise

This necklace features an antique button from the late 1800's. The button displays tiny pieces of glass that have been cut marquise style. I'm not sure what the design is suppose to be-to me it looks like little dragonflies dancing. I have placed the button in a bronze finished setting and attached the pendant to an antique brass plated chain.

The pendant measures 3/4" across and the antique brass chain measures 18" with a 3.5" extender making the length adjustable up 21.5".

Because of the inner cardboard construction you cannot wash these buttons. They will rust from moisture trapped in the middle. The Victorians would remove such buttons before laundering their clothes(wow). I have however brushed cleaned this button.

These are gorgeous parts of history. The secrets they know and stories to tell. I feel a wonderful connection with the past when I hold one of these beauties.
