I tend to have a fascination with both modern perforated surfaces and old latticeworks (known as mashrabiya in Islamic Architecture) and the design for this leather cuff definitely draws from that. In this case I wanted a simple, modern pattern in which I could superimpose text on and have it read as part of the design. The word for Strong in Arabic (pronounced ko-wee) is carved out of a black vegetable tanned leather band through lasercutting. I coated the leather with a water and stain protectant, then added a gunmetal chain.
The cuff has a gunmetal extender chain and clasp in the back so the size is adjustable.* The vegetable tanned black leather band measures 5 inches and the chain adds up to 2 1/2 inches. The photos show it on a small size wrist.
The shape of the leather band is larger towards the front and tapers towards the back. At its tallest it is 1 3/4 inches.
*For figuring out your own sizing I recommend the following:
Take a piece of string and wrap it around your wrist then mark where they overlap. Measure the string against a ruler. For a comfortable fit add 1/2" to 1" to that (depending on how loose you like to wear it).
