But several years ago when I was spending summer weeks in Junction, Texas, which sits on the South Llano River, I didn't know all of that. I just thought the rocks looked cool, and used to go out with friends and look for especially good specimens that I could bring home and put in my garden. I guess I thought these three were fine enough to be my models for painting.
Watercolors and acrylics were used to create the shapes of the rocks and the background. In reality the rocks are white, but I pushed the color in the shadows and textural areas, using tints and shades of blue, blue-green, green, pink, yellow ochre, and brown. The rocks stand out against a dark indigo background suggestive of water.
The painting is 14.5" x 22", with a 1/2" border for ease in matting and framing. Packaged with care and shipped flat to your address, "River Rocks" would make a fine addition to your collection of original art!
