I start with a pile of sweaters, coats, shirts, and various other assorted recycled clothing items. Some of the pieces may have been dyed or hand painted. Then I select a basic clothing piece and search through my stash for a variety of complimentary items to cut up and sew together to make what I call a "fabulized" piece of wearable art. Every creation is then machine washed and dried in the dryer to pre-shrink and add a bit of pucker to the seams in some cases. Measurements are taken on un-stretched garments. Many of the knits will stretch inches larger than the posted measurements I have been creating wearable art using recycled textiles for over 30 years. As an artist/painter, you will find the use of color, form and texture extraordinary in MONA! brand garments. This is my profession.
