These postcards are many things:
Nine mini, handwritten poetry broadsides. Nine postcards. Something new created from the past. Art you can hold in your hand, receive, give and keep, or give again.
The background:
My mother, a professional photographer (visit her Etsy store: http://www.etsy.com/shop/MelabeeMMiller) and I collaborated to pair six love poems with six images that I think best represent the natural aspects of love.
I met my husband on April Fool’s Day, 2006. Since then, I’ve written countless poems about our experiences together. While the ideas for these poems are drawn from our love story, the sentiment and greater truths will apply to all love stories.
The images:
The postcards have six different images of sea, air and land. You can see four examples here.
The poems:
The poems are short, narrative poems. Here is one of the poems:
Love
There are many ways to love.
In the infinitive,
there’s no subject,
no direct object.
The action moves
as if on wheels.
Steady. Hold your arms
out into the air,
past the guardrails.
The final product:
You can purchase the six postcards with original images and handwritten poems as a set. The address section will be left blank; you can mail them off or save them for yourself.
Convo me if you are interested in buying them individually. The cost will be $3.00 each.
