This 4 - 5 oz. piece of soap art is inspired by Ken Follett's 1989 historical novel, Pillars of the Earth, about the building of a cathedral in the fictional town of Kingsbridge, set in twelfth century England.

For further inspiration, I drew on my love of Blenko glass. The Blenko glass company is located in Milton, WV, where I lived as a child. As elementary school students, we often took trips the Blenko factory where amazing magical people blow glass. I have visited twice since, as an adult, and the magic continues. Many of the colors I chose for this soap are from memory as I recollect the beautiful glass scrap yard at the Blenko factory.

My earlier attempts to make this soap failed miserably. But, much like the determined Follett character, Tom the builder, I was driven to overcome the obstacles to achieve my vision. This functional art is made from vegetable based glycerin soap. While beauty and art are an important part of my work, skin care is always number one. With skin care in mind, I have added some of my favorite skin loving oils such as jojoba, kukui nut, apricot kernel, avocado, and coconut oils to ensure a non-drying lather.

The beautiful colors in this soap are from cosmetic grade colorants. The light and airy unisex fragrance is my idea of what stained glass should smell like.

This bar is appx 4.25 inches wide by 2.5 inches tall by 5/8" thick. It is large enough to cut into two guest size pieces.

Please enjoy this soap as you wash away the bad or wash on the good. It works both ways:)
