The spider on this small dish will delight any arachnid lover out there.
I made this bowl from a thin slab of porcelain clay which I laid over plaster a mould that I cast. It is glazed on the outsides with a soft satin buttercream matte, and glazed on the interior with pistachio green satin matte. I added a line of black gloss glaze around the rim, which breaks nicely into both the green and cream glazes. After firing in the kiln to 2130 F, I added a decal laser image of a spider, and refired to 1954 F. The decal is fired on and is permanent.
The bowl measures about 6" wide and sits 1" high. This is perfect for serving treats with a trick ending! You can serve fruit, dips, tea breads, cookies, or other treats.
I'm working on a new serving bowl series...stay tuned for more!!
