They collect drops of f water and the soap goes to mush,
even if you try those little plastic spiky things to hold the soap up,
all you get is soap with holes in it, not to great on the face, well...
I created these soap dishes, mats, coasters to avoid all of that and they work great!
I crocheted them in such a way that there are air passageways under the soap so that
both the mat and the soap stays relatively dry or drys fairly quickly. This one measures approximately 5 1/2 inches. long and 4 1/4 inches wide.
No sides needed, the soap and mat stay put!
The soap lasts so much longer, even my husband noticed and said "I think you have something here...try selling these!" I don't have to open a bar of soap nearly as much now either!

All cotton, I suggest hand washing in cold water along with towel/air drying periodically as the soap does build up a little on them after awhile. This will also prevent shrinkage and preserve shape and color. The yarn manufacturer states that it can be machine washed and dried.
*Many natural soaps have an acidic content which may cause fading or bleeding of colors, if this is the case I recommend a neutral color for the yarn such as white or beige.**
