An amazing ca. 1890s Victorian locket done in Etruscan Revival style. The locket is oval shaped with an intricate front and plain verso. The border of the locket is cast with tiny circles and separating lines, creating a textured. frame. Beyond this, there is a rim creating a second border around a recessed face. The feature of the locket is a raised semi-circle set with three seed pearls girdling another decorative element.

The locket is thick and substantial, opening from the side to a roomy interior. The locket does not have any bezels or frames. It closes and opens securely with thumb tabs and is plated in yellow gold, likely around 9K. The open-back bale is decorative and original to the piece. The chain, purchased with the locket, is marked for 14K gold.

There is some wear to the plating, which has a combination of matte and polished finish, and the seed pearls show their age. Overall condition is still very good.

Measurements: Locket w/bail 1.75" x 1" | Chain 19.5"
Era: 1880s-1890s
Markings: A&Z 14K on the chain
