Bonjour! Here is a beautiful vintage bell with leather buckle that was used to herd animals, i'm guessing goats or sheep (cows have big square bells in France). Traditionally, every year "transumance" happens, where shepherds move their herds from a winter pasture to a summer pasture, and vice versa. Modern practices have for the most part eliminated this practice, though some herds still exist in the french Alps and Pyrénées.
This bell is in good vintage condition, it has a crack in the metal on the "mouth" part and the leather is quite worn and dirty, but intact.
The bell alone measures 2 1/2 inches (6 cm) in diameter.
Please refer to my shop policies for information on combined shipping, thank you.
