This listing is for ONE (1) orange star, as seen in the first image. Each star is individually cut and sewn by hand. The initials of the artist (KVP) have been stitched on the backside.
Ochre stars are a common sighting along rocky shorelines and in tidal pools all along the coast. There is a range of colours, including brown (ochre), purple, pink and orange, and the majority colour is often a sign of their habitat. Recent studies show that on the exposed open coast these seastars eat mainly mussels, which lends to their mainly brown/orange colour (mussels have carotenoids, like carrots), and on the sheltered inner coasts you will see mainly purple stars that feed on barnacles.
