this lovely, lovely garment features exquisite handmade
workmanship that just takes one's breath away.
this dress was acquired from an elderly woman who
found this dress ( and a few others I have ) in the closet
of her first married home on the cliffs of the Columbia
River Gorge, she stored this dress carefully for years.
the dress is made out of a soft, burlap colored cotton/wool
with a hand made lace bodice. the collar, fold-over cuffs,
and waist are adorned with hand embroidered symbols that
are a intriguing mystery to the vintage lover. there are 16
self-covered buttons trimming the apron, or even corset-like
front bodice, and 12 of the same down the back of the dress,
these are for decoration only. the bottom portion of the dress
features a unusual and very pretty horse shoe shaped cut out
trimmed in dusty rose embroidery.
