After being asked by my Mother, "Can you do anything with these?" my creative spark was lit. Of course she was asking me about a box full of antique glass insulators she was wanting to get rid of. I took some home with me and this is what I came up with.

I covered and decorated a glass insulator with polymer clay. It was then cured, sanded and given a coat of acrylic polish. There are no paints or molds used. All decorations are made by hand out of polymer clay. Slices from four of my polymer clay canes were used in covering this insulator. Countless hours worth of work went into the making of this lamp.

The base is a four inch circle of pine wood which I have stained with a cherry color wood stain and varnished with polyurethane. I drilled the hole in the center to insert the base of the light and carved out a channel for the electrical cord so that it sits flat. Many hours of work has gone into each one of my night lights and every one is unique.

The insulator weighs 1 1/2 pounds and should be handled with care. Since they are insulators they do not get hot to the touch, even after many hours of being turned on. Only a small night light bulb is recommended and is included with your purchase. The electrical cord is five feet long and has an on/off switch. These night lights measure 5 inches tall and four inches across the bottom.

They would look great in your home or office and would be a great conversation piece. If you have any questions, please contact me.
