A large hand pierced and formed brass ring, with a hand drawn and etched Navajo inspired shape on the exterior, has a nice weight to it, yet is extremely comfortable to wear. The interior that bears my makers mark E², is hammered and sanded smooth for a comfortable feel against your skin. The organic and rustic textures are a lovely side-effect of the etching process, and lends a ancient feel to the ring. This ring would perfectly compliment some sterling and turquoise jewelry!
I have always loved and been inspired by American Indian culture, art, jewelry and artifacts. When I was younger I would make my own painted clay pottery, loom woven bead work, and baskets out of grass. Recently I have become renewed with my past love, and hopefully will be creating many more American Indian as well as South Western styled work.
The ring was oxidized for color and effect, given some "battle scars", then treated with a polished wax protectant finish that sinks deep into the metal to preserve the rich color for years to come. Over time, the patina will deepen and become even more beautiful. It is intended to look slightly aged and worn from the beginning, I've created it so it has that timeless look.
A much more affordable metal than silver, brass has such a gorgeous and organic color to it. Since the cost of silver has tripled in the past year or two, I have begun using metals such as brass and copper in many of my designs, to offer a more affordable price point. The same amount of labor goes into creating a piece with an alternative metal, but the price can be anywhere from $15.00-$75.00 less than if silver were used, depending on the size of the piece.
Dimensions - 1.50" long and approx .90" wide depending on the size of finger it is shaped for. The ring shank is .70" wide.
This item is Made To Order, is time intensive, and is given lots of love. Please allow 5-7 days for fabrication before shipping.
Please include your ring size, and I will create the ring specifically for you. The manner in which this ring is created, with a small gap in the back, lends itself to being very easy to switch fingers if you so desire. The brass has a bit of give to it, and can be gently squeezed to make a smaller ring, or gently pulled apart to fit a larger finger, within a size or two each way. When you include your ring size, I will form the ring to fit that size, but be aware that you may need to adjust slightly to fit once you have received it.
Due to the process of made by hand pieces, each one will be slightly different. Please allow for these subtle differences, as it is what makes handmade art truly unique! If you are interested in a etched symbol other than the included Navajo inspired design, please send me a convo with your idea and we can discuss! If you are a copper lover, I can absolutely create this ring in copper instead of brass, for the same cost.
This piece ships Priority Mail with delivery confirmation and free insurance for the United States, and 1st Class Mail with included insurance for Everywhere Else! If you should require a different shipping method, please contact me prior to purchasing to discuss available options.
FYI - The band around my ring finger in the photos is my wedding band tattoo...NOT a discoloration from any metals that I use for jewelry! I only use sterling silver for my rings, and when I do incorporate brass or copper into my work, it is finished with a lacquer sealant or a special wax, to help prevent discoloration of skin.
