Here is a little knitted toque for a precious newborn in soft, washable, wool. Very stretchy rolled brim to fit as baby's head grows in those first months. Wool is warm in the winter and cool in the summer, and provides just the right snuggly softness for baby's head, both indoors and out.
I hand knit this cap with fine gauge yarn, commonly used to make socks. The tiny stitches and thin yarn require many hours of knitting for one hat, but the result is worth it. It makes such a lightweight and warm, but breathable, hat. It never looks bulky on a tiny infant.
The palette features shades of tangerine, lime green, royal blue, red and gray. Yarn is 75% wool, 25% nylon yarn; very soft and not itchy. Machine washable; lay flat to dry.
Cap is approximately 12.5" (32 cm) in diameter, and stretches to 17 " (43 cm). Height is 5" (13 cm) when the brim is rolled. As baby's head grows, the brim will unroll to add another inch in length, fitting baby for about 3 months.
