The front side of the sleeve is hand-made of top grain cowhide and has been embossed with a Wood Grain Pattern. The leather surface is not flat - you can actually feel the raised grain of the wood. The wood grain (from a pine board) was pressed into the leather after we moistened it slightly with water. Once it dried we applied the leather dye and followed that with two coats of clear lacquer to seal and water-proof the surface. The back side of the sleeve is made of black top grain cowhide.
