Two dreamers gaze into a moonlit, starry sky in this lovely Victorian illustration c. 1840-1860 by an anonymous artist.
The original black-and-white engraving is long out of copyright and in the public domain. I've remixed it with a modern twist by digitally hand-painting it, which took me around 8-10 hours.
And to complement the enchanting imagery, I've incorporated Percy Bysshe Shelley's beautiful 1820 poem The World's Wanderers: "Tell me, thou Star, whose wings of light / Speed thee in thy fiery flight, / In what cavern of the night / Will thy pinions close now? / Tell me, Moon, thou pale and grey / Pilgrim of heaven’s homeless way, / In what depth of night or day / Seekest thou repose now? / Weary Wind, who wanderest / Like the world’s rejected guest, / Hast thou still some secret nest / On the tree or billow?"
This pretty print is perfect for the 21st-century lover of 19th-century art and poetry. It would look wonderful on the wall of a neo-Victorian parlor, romantic boudoir, or steampunk study.
