This is a pair of hardcover notebooks, made from recycled and repurposed materials. The cover pictures are from an old discarded book of children's stories. The boards are salvaged scraps of eska board. The pages are made from off-cuts leftover from a larger project.

One book features the Cow Jumping Over the Moon, and the other notebook features the other characters: the Cat and the Fiddle, the Little Dog laughing, and the Dish running away with the Spoon! The back cover of each book is lined on the inside with paper cut from the same story book - it's a section of text from the book's introduction which discusses the importance of stories, nursery rhymes and picture books for children.

This notebook has an exposed spine, showing two rows of chain stitches sewn with black linen thread. This book will open completely flat so you can fill the pages all the way to the edges.

Each notebook is the same size, about 5½" x 3" (or 14cm x 8cm).
Each book has 144 pages.

About the Artist, Rhonda Miller

I have been bookbinding and experimenting in the realm of book arts for over ten years. My handbound journals are made very carefully, one at a time, to ensure that they are both durable and beautiful. Many of the techniques employed in creating a journal are centuries old and I am constantly working to learn more about ancient bookbinding methods that can be used with modern materials to make unique and functional journals.
