What you have here is a somewhat adult twist on a breakfast staple.
We took Grade 'A' Medium Pennsylvania maple syrup and carefully poured it into a used Rye whiskey barrel. The barrels come to us from Cactoctin Creek Distilling Company in northern Virginia.
A whiskey barrel can be used for whiskey only once, by law. This creates a secondary market for the used ones. When we visited Catoctin Creek for a bottling workshop and tour I found myself wondering what else you could use the barrel for.
Clearly I found a use.
