Grizzly Bear - Hand Stitched Soft Sculpture

Grizzly bears are giants of the west coast forest, lumbering through the woods and mountains in search of a wide variety of foods to fill his belly before winter hibernation. Massively strong and quite capable of taking down larger prey, the grizzly is an adaptable diner who more commonly feeds on berries and insects. In the fall, the grizzlies can be found along salmon streams in large numbers, eager to load up on the rich protein of the spawning salmon who return to the rivers each year. Grizzlies, or brown bears, vary in colour from nearly black to almost white, but most are brown with light-tipped guard hairs that give them their "grizzled" appearance. They are much larger than black bears, with a distinct hump on their back.

This little grizzly is a bit of a curmudgeonly fellow, perhaps because his tummy is rumbling a bit, or he is getting a bit sleepy in anticipation of winter's hibernation. However, he can be a very good companion, especially if you bring him a berry or two, once in a while. He is mostly quiet and will keep you company at home, while both you and he dream of the tall raincoast forests perfect for roaming in.

This soft sculpture measures about 7" long from nose to tail, and stands a bit over 5" tall to the tip of his ear. He is carefully hand stitched from brown linen and cotton and stuffed with locally sourced alpaca fleece. He is embellished with natural dyed silk & wool, repurposed wool and tweed, and a little bit of suede for the pads of his feet.
