Artist's Books are paintings, drawings, collage sheets, text books and pieces of sculpture all in one. It can't get better than that!
The term 'Artist's Book' describes a book made entirely by the artist. It is hand-painted, hand-printed, handwritten or collaged by its creator. Of course, living in the computer age, we cannot discard the use of a printer in the process but this does not change the basic fact that it's the artist who carries out the entire process of creation.
They make beautiful, original and unexpected gifts, and they can be kept folded and tied up or unfolded on a shelf or a table.
Largo Camino con Paradas: A Long Path with Pauses.
This one of a kind accordion book is in Spanish. You may have read in my profile that I live in Spain, so my choice of language here is not that bizarre.
I had this idea of creating a series of autobiographic books, in the wider sense of the term. They don't need to be thorough and they don't need to be precise. In a free, artistic way, they will be true. They will reflect my feelings, experiences and recollections.
This book is more like an introductory note, a trial version, an initial approximation to the subject. I have no idea how long it will take me to create the series, it's not really important either. But the idea of 'painting my memoires' is extremely appealing to me and I know I won't give up on it. Stay tuned!

Once entirely open (flat) this accordion book is 162 cms (64.8 inches) long.
Each one of its 12 pages is 13.5 x 14.7 cms (5.4 x 5.9 inches).
Painted with watercolours and acrylic inks on fine-grain, heavyweight watercolour paper. I used a dip pen for the handwritten block letters and graphite for the drawings. The graphic design on the cover was printed with archival pigments on watercolour paper. The red 'stepping stones' on the front and back covers were hand-stamped with a small rubber stamp made by me.

It's not the first time that I use her fabrics to cover a book and it's not the first time that everyone loves the result!
