Each of my hats has some sort of adornment. Either a cockade or a braid or band. This one had a big red satin rosette with a gold and pearl plastic button in the center.
They are all 11 inches in diameter. Head circumference: 20 1/2 inches. Made of poly/cotton blend broadcloth in dark blue with a dark blue lining. There is a only a little “give” to this type of material, so measure well around the part of the head where you will wish to wear it.
Washable, but will need to be ironed/pressed afterwards.
Worn by many different classes of people, from late 13th to 16th century, it fits in with many different eras and periods. Poor and rich alike wore these type of head coverings. The main difference was what it was made from and the type of adornment you could afford. Modern SCA women also wear these hats.
