When I saw this shell medallion I wasn't sure of the fate it would have, but I knew I couldn't pass it up. This medallion is one of those pieces that have a certain life to them and you work around that to build a piece that suits that, not one of those pieces where you build a piece and find something to suit it. I kept the design of the necklace simple, yet elegant. This necklace would make a splendid addition to any jewelry collection!
This necklace is secured with a silver barrel clasp and is about 27" long. The shell medallion hangs nearly 2.5 inches, so when the necklace is worn, it's about 30 inches. The extra long length would be great to wear as one long layer, or wrapped for a shorter, double layer look. For the majority of the length for this necklace I used 2mm iridescent tube beads that have a sheer rainbow sheen to them. The lowest part of the necklace, where the purple shell medallion hangs, I used amethyst gemstone chips and 8mm light grey pearl beads. To cap off the amethyst chips and pearls, 5mm clear glass beads with a rainbow sheer are used on each side. The purple, mother of pearl style, shell medallion is 2' and has silver foil markings.
This necklace is truly one of a kind and is a must see to admire how beautiful it is!
