Materials: Bookboard, Lokta archival handmade paper, permanent archival ink, unlined bright white 70 lb text paper, and several feet of white hand-waxed linen binding thread.
This journal is the first in a series of original print covers on luscious Lokta paper (from Nepal). On this particular cover I used a linocut of a tree I made just over a year ago. The entirety of the front and back cover were first covered with turquoise Lokta paper. Then I added a rectangle of hand-torn brown to the front cover to act as a frame for the print - a smaller hand-torn rectangle of turquoise. The pages are hand-cut, rounded corners, with white bookbinders thread. The Coptic style of stitch allows the book to open up flat, which is fantastic for writing, sketching, etc.
