Faux. Faux Sew Thrus. Fake Sew Thru buttons. They were made to imitate the threads sewing thru a button, for designs sake...but in reality they are a loop shank back. The "X" or the Faux Sew Thru is merely decoration.

There are a myriad of versions of Faux or Fake Sew Thru Buttons from the 30's, 40's and 50's. I have enjoyed collecting them, and they do pop up more frequently than one might think. However, they are seldom alike, and often fun and interesting to see how they "faked" it.

This particular example has a grey green plastic background, with a brass coloured X to imitate the threads going thru the button.

There are 6 matching, 3/4" buttons, with a small brass loop shank. Fun little closures. Ready to repurpose into your art work?

See the Zooms for best details.

Thanks for looking.
