Frida Kahlo was a Mexican artist most famous for her colorful , if somewhat bizarre self portraits. What is little known about her is she originally set out to be a doctor, but after a bad accident she was too injured to pursue that route. Frida spent a lot of her time bedridden, which explained why she took up painting, to pass the time. When asked why she painted so many pictures of herself, she explained, "Because that is who I know best."
Inspired by her real life photo, I fashioned this particular art miniature wearing pink and cream leaf print skirt with lace ruffles to accent. She also wears her dark hair in high rolls upon her head with lace headdress and ribbon trim, and she has sky blue floral apron with red calico blouse to add a stylish touch.
My unique characters are specially designed from combination of wire, clay, paint, and wood- all without a pattern so each is one of a kind.
This fun little miniature stands 4 1/2 inches tall, (11.4 centimeters)
