Out for a walk the other day, I spied some acorns on the sidewalk. Picking them up and putting them in my pocket for later seemed like a good idea. 'Later" I put the acorns on my work bench and began to copy the shapes with hot glass. Side by side, I laid the glass and the acorn, working for that familiar shape.
This acorn bead is made with a glass called pumpkin. it doesn't look great made into pumpkins, but I'm very happy with it being used for an acorn. The top of the acorn is made with a silver reactive glass that I worked in the flame to bring out the deep colors of blues and the shine that only silvered glass can give.
This particular acorn bead, I decided to hang on a chain. It is wired with copper wire, hanging on a 22 inch copper chain, fastened with a lobster claw clasp.
I can change the length of the chain if you like, longer or shorter.
The bead is kiln annealed for durability and guaranteed for workmanship, this bead measures about 2.5 cm in length and less than 2 cm at it's widest point.
This necklace is sure to bring many compliments and it especially will look great through October and November. Wear it on Thanksgiving for a holiday gathering. :-)
