From the Dark Ages throughout the Medieval period, elaborate sets of cosmetic implements were frequently worn suspended from the belts of well to do women as a sign of wealth and status. The items in this reproduction set of Anglo Saxon tools have been copied exactly from extant pieces now housed at the Ashmolean Museum. Though originally excavated separately, they have been assembled here into a matched set as they might have been when actually in use, complete with ear scoop, pick, and tweezers. Each piece has been carefully hand forged from copper alloy and, true to the original, the fully functional tweezers have been highly embellished with incised and stamped designs prominently featuring the ubiquitous ring and dot motif so popular in European antiquity. Individual tools measure between 70mm and 90mm in length, with a 25mm carrying ring. This piece is truly unique and a perfect addition to any Dark Age or Viking kit.
