The wood for all of my pocket amulets has been wild crafted by my friend Leslie of "Blyth House Creations" in South Carolina. She then sent them to the opposite end of the country to my home in California. These pocket amulets have done a lot of traveling! Once they arrived here I decided to burn into them different symbols to correspond with the wood used as closely as I could make it.
This particular piece has been hand burned with the rune Algiz. Algiz is the rune of protection and is also symbolic of a shield (psychic and physical), sheltering yourself and others, warding off evil and malevolent energy and spirits, defending yourself and others, communing/connection with the gods, success, earning what you deserve, following instincts, channeling energy and more. Each rune means something different to everyone. You decide what it means to YOU.
Oak wood is a fire element tree and known as the most sacred and the most powerful tree of the Celtic Druids. It is ruled by the sun and is a great wood for inspiration, creativity, power. It is a powerful tree that can be used magically for strength, power, enhancing spell work, wisdom, authority, personal sovereignty, opening and closing doors, endurance, fertility and so much more. The Oak is truly amazing in what it can offer.
All of my wood burned creations have been lightly sanded by hand and rubbed deep with corresponding oils I have made myself.
It measures approximately one centimeter thick and 1 1/2 inches in diameter. Please note that none of the pieces I make are perfect. I don't strive to perfect something natural and wild into something that looks manufactured and just like every other one of its kind. I love the character each piece has. Every "flaw" tells a story.
