Materials: Bookboard, archival handmade paper, unlined bright white 70 lb text weight paper, and several feet of hand-waxed linen binding thread hand-dyed with roasted grains.
The stark contrast between the dark cover and the bright white pages is so lovely. Let me tell you how it came to life... I covered each piece of hand-cut bookboard with a fabulous handmade paper I recently found on a trip to Boston - brown with screen printed turquoise flowers (I think it may be Lokta). The inside "end paper" of each board is also covered with a matching Lokta brown paper. Then I hand-cut blank pages with rounded corners, pressed them, and stitched them into the covers with hand-dyed bookbinders thread using a Coptic style of stitch which allows the book to open up flat - fantastic for writing, sketching, etc! The text paper is a nice thickness and works well for pencil and ink. I use Faber-Castill pens with mine!
