Golden satin cording is couched into the two squares and the circle surrounding the hand cut customizable felt lettering appliques. A hand-stitched gray scale globe, also of felt, adds to the vintage look of this lovely book. I use some distressing techniques to give the covers a weathered and well-loved look.
The cover look is completed with the hand stained wooden slat and tied leather cording. A matching wood detail finishes the back cover. (Wood and leather cord detailing are accents only and do not actually hold the book together.)
The inside of the cover is finished with a neutral tan fabric.
You can customize your book by adding printed interior fabrics, as shown in the last photo. There is a $5.00 fee for custom fabrics as they cost more than the solid color I would usually use. If you would like a printed interior fabric, please let me know and I will send photos showing those available. If you have something specific in mind, I would be happy to help find it. Additional charges may be incurred if fabric needs to be special ordered and shipped.

The book will arrive fully constructed and ready to fill with your adventures and memories. Refill pages are easy to find when more space is needed. The book is set up to use standard 12 x 12" page refills which are readily available at craft and scrapbook stores. The 10 page protectors (included) provide plenty of room for you to begin adding your own adventures. Please note that these page protectors are EMPTY. I do not provide any paper unless requested. (See more details below.) 12 x 12" paper is plentiful; fill your choice of background paper with photos and notes about your adventures, and insert them in the order desired.
To add pages, open the back cover, unfold the flap at the binding, unscrew and remove the post caps, remove the back cover and binding strip to expose the posts, and slip more pages into place. Extension posts will be needed and usually come with the packs of page protectors available in craft, hobby, and scrapbook stores. I found a pretty decent tutorial about how to add pages to a post bound album. When I have time, I am considering creating one of my own. NOTE: When adding pages, be sure you have the opening of all new pages to the top. It is never fun to get the book all the way back together only to find some page protectors were upside down! Also, be sure to replace the binding strip before repositioning the back cover.
The matching faux leather expandable binding strip encloses the edges of the page protectors at the closed end, creating a finished look if you desire to stand the book on a shelf with the bound end facing out. (When doing this, remove the book carefully from between other books so as not to put undue stress on the detailing, stitching, and wood trim pieces.)
Page protectors are two-sided; each one counts as two pages, a front and a back. 10 page protectors = 20 pages. Page size is 12" x 12". The book itself is approximately 13.5" W x 12.5" H.
This book would make a great gift for the avid scrapbooker, beginning scrapbookers, dating couples, newly engaged or about to be engaged couples, newlyweds, new parents, etc. It would make a great conversation piece on a coffee table. This scrapbook will be sure to hold treasured memories for years to come.
WHY SO MUCH?!
I start with a high-quality post bound scrapbook, add durable, acid free, high-quality page protectors, fabric, trim, felt, wood, leather stripping, glues, thread, embroidery floss, fabric backings, stain, and other assorted supplies totaling over $65.
I spend 15 hours disassembling the purchased scrapbook, sizing, cutting, preparing fabrics, hand cutting letters and decorations, hand and machine stitching trims, edgings, and decorations, creating the covers, staining the wooden pieces, applying finishing touches, and reassembling the scrapbook so it's ready to use when you receive it. Add another 2 hours to go to the store and purchase materials, shipping supplies, and then package and send out the completed packaged item.
PAY BY INSTALLMENTS:
If you wish to purchase this book but would like to pay a bit at a time, I can set up an installment listing. I will make the book, package it, and have it ready to ship when the final payment is made. Special arrangements can be made by legal and binding contract if the book is needed sooner than the final payment can be made.
CUSTOMIZE THE COVER:
Space is limited but I will do my best to accommodate your wishes. You could opt to have the title read 'My Adventure Book', or you might add a name, if it fits: 'Jake's Adventure Book'. Felt letters would be cut smaller for longer names. All letters are hand cut with scissors, not with a die.
Due to customer desire for a more realistic representation of the continents on the globe, I developed a hand embroidered version. It is shown on the book in the third photo and with other customization ideas in the fourth photo. It is an additional $5.00 to switch from the appliqued version shown in the second photo to the embroidered globe. Felt, by nature, cannot be cut into a tiny detailed piece because its fibers will lose cohesion. Therefore the appliqued version is more of an abstract representation.
Because this book is hand made, no two will ever be exactly alike. Please allow three weeks for your item to be created. If I am having a slow sales period, I may be able to get it completed sooner. Contact me for an exact wait time.
CUSTOMIZE THE INSIDE:
Customization can also be added inside. For example, if you would like the first page of the book created as a title page or introductory page for the album, we can discuss your needs. Some customization can be included in the price or can be added for a few dollars to cover extra materials. Other, more detailed layouts may incur an additional charge for designing and work/time to create.
This book comes with 10 empty page protectors. You can add more pages (see below). You can also add special paper for page protector inserts so all of your pages have a uniform background. Pages can be trimmed with a scallop, Victorian edge, or deckle-cut edge for an additional fee. You might also add a date, a customized bookplate, title page, photo frame, or other details.
The fifth photo shows a highly detailed decorated page set I created for a client to use as a guest sign in page for their 'UP'-themed wedding. Each page has nearly 300 tiny embossed, hand cut, and chalk colored flowers, leaves, balloons, pinwheels, etc. The cost for this type of design and decorative work is $35/page. I would be happy to custom-create a special and unique design for your title page or other need.
If you have a theme in mind, or particular topics you plan to include in your book, I can customize layouts so all you have to do is add photos and writing.
ADD MORE PAGES:
Additional page protectors can be added for $0.75 each for the first 19. Twenty or more page protectors can be added for $0.50 each.
A NOTE ABOUT CUSTOM ORDERS:
Since there are many ways to customize the book and many materials and many steps in the making of this item, I do not make this item until it is ordered. Please allow AT LEAST three weeks for your item to be created. Customized orders may take longer depending upon the work to be done. (Please contact me for an exact wait time; if I don't have a lot of orders I may be able to get it out to you in about 10 days. Again, this time frame will depend upon the availability of materials you choose and costs of those materials, when applicable, will include any shipping charges and other fees incurred if I need to order them by mail.)
