These machines are portable but still a nice standard size machine. These are excellent if you go to craft meetings or sewing groups or even quilting classes. These are sought after by many because of their excellent straight stitches. This is a total workhorse and can handle regular weight and heavier weight materials! The manual says it will take size 9 to 21 needles.
This has just been serviced by a sewing machine repair shop that has been in business for many years. They cleaned, oiled, installed a new belt, installed a new bobbin tire, and adjusted the tension. This machine works perfectly! And, it's so smooth!
The serial number from this machine dates it to 1928. (AC210038) This is a 100-110 volt machine. This is a very simple machine and it is very easy to operate. It is a straight stitch forward stitch mode only with no reverse. (If you are worried about how to tie off your seams without a reverse it is pretty simple you can tie it off by hand or you can set your stitch length to zero so you stitch over the same spot for a short time and then go on.) All you have to do is set your stitch length with the knob and away you go. It has a built in bobbin winder and this will come with a bobbin. There is a working work light. The cord is in nice condition. This sewing machine is driven by the knee attachment shown in the photographs.
The carrying case is in excellent condition and has done an excellent job of protecting this beautiful machine through the years. The case is complete with the key and the latches and handle are in great condition and operate just like it did back in 1928! On the bottom there is a nice sized place for storing bobbins, thread, and such.
I will include a copy of a Singer 99 instruction booklet with purchase this is not the original manual for this machine and has some more modern features from a 1950s machine but the basics are the same for this machine. This is a pretty extensive 56 page manual. Also, if you prefer I can send this to you via a PDF file.
These are so much better than those cheap machines you can buy now days and so much more classy looking and a special machine to pass down to future generations of happy sewers!
