These cuties feature an awesome bat applique on the rear end of the pants - great not just for Halloween, but for kids who like creatures year-round. (I know at my house, bats are not just a halloween item, lol.) They are a size medium and measure 16-18 inches around the waist, 19 inches in the rise, and 17 inches in the legs. Perfect over cloth diapers, but they work great over disposable diapers or underwear, as well. (both my kids have loved their wool pants even after they were out of diapers!)
Wool is a remarkable natural fiber. It is amazingly effective as a diaper cover because it can absorb 30% of its own weight before feeling damp. The lanolin that is found in wool gives it an antibacterial, moisture-resistant barrier that allows air to circulate. This actually causes the moisture absorbed by the wool fibers to evaporate into the air.
Most people find that wool works wonderfully as a diaper cover for overnights, keeping the sheets dry even on the wettest of nights. Wool also makes a great cover for day use, as well, providing an all-natural waterproof barrier. Wool covers do need special handling, but they also only need to be washed every few weeks. (Wool should be washed by hand with a lanolin-rich soap.)
