MORE PICTURES ARE AVAILABLE IN MY DEVIANTART GALLERY--Please see http://lupagreenwolf.deviantart.com/gallery/33057044 for many more pictures and costume backstory! The few pictures I have here, to include the rather sad photo montage of the accessories, just don't do this creation justice.

WOLF PARTS CANNOT BE SENT TO CALIFORNIA OR NEW YORK. IF YOU ARE IN THESE STATES PLEASE DO NOT TRY TO ORDER THIS ITEM.

Layaway is available for this item; please contact me for details! My layaway plans are quite generous, and I'm more than willing to work you to find a payment plan that works for your budget!

We've all heard the story of Little Red Riding Hood, the cautionary tale scaring girls--and women--into staying away from anything remotely dangerous, and teaching that we have to have men to save us from the bad things. The forest is a scary place, wolves are evil creatures, and the sexual undertones of the story illustrate a fear of female sexuality.

I say, f**k that.

This is Lady Red Riding Hood, a reimagining of the little girl grown up. Leather skirt and tight bodice aside, this is no sexy little pinup like most "grown-up" Red Riding Hood costumes, but a Huntress in her own right.

She wears a red cloak with removable hood and elk antler toggles; the leather is tougher than the hood she wore as a girl--as she has gained in strength as well. The hood is open in the back that she may let her hair hang down freely--or to drape over her mask...

...a mask made of real wolf hide, reshaped and detailed, with added teeth to emphasize ferocity. She does not fear the things she is told she must fear simply because she is a woman, but instead has learned like the wolf to be both a fearsome thing, and a well-balanced one, for wolves do not only hunt, but also play, and raise young, and drowse in the sun on long, summer days.

Her skirt, like her cloak, is adjustable to fit most women's body sizes, for there is no one right way to appear. While she is small, for now, should she gain weight as she ages the two-part wrap skirt will gently shift to accommodate her maturing body.

Around her neck she wears a necklace with the wolf at the center, flanked by bone skulls, sap red wood, and deep black beads; the wolf howls to a blood moon overhead, showing that she earned this through her efforts as a successful huntress.

On her braided leather belt she carries a small leather pouch, where she keeps her most personal items, medicines, coins, and mementos.

On the opposite hip rests a horn-bladed knife whose handle is made from a wolf jaw bone, and whose hilt is wrapped in wolf fur. It sleeps in a sheath made of leather and a wolf paw, waiting until the moment it is needed. The stag and moon pendant on the sheath represents the Lord and Lady of the Wild to whom she is dedicated.

At the small of her back hangs the tail of a wolf, symbolizing her root connection to the wilderness and to her totem animal.

In her hand she carries, not a basket, but another, larger pouch, suspended from an elk antler. This pouch is for larger items, both gifts to give and hunted game to bring home. Before the pouch hangs a small jar carrying strange, luminescent herbs found deep in the forest; their light lasts for weeks.

While this was created as a complete costume, I also designed the individual components to be used separately as the buyer wishes, either as parts of other costumery, or accents to everyday wear.

Here's what you will get:

--One red suede leather cloak with removable hood, with elk antler buttons and toggle to close it and tie the hood on.
--One wrap skirt made of two separate pieces; the black portion wraps around front and ties in the back, the red portion wraps around the back and ties in the front, and while I have a 30" waist, it will accommodate up to a 50" waist as-is, or I would be happy to add panels as necessary (this may cost extra due to extra materials costs and labor).
--One mask made of real wolf fur, reshaped and with painted details, and leather ties. I added coyote teeth to the muzzle for added detail.
--One necklace, 25" long, made with a ceramic wolf pendant, secondhand black and red wood beads, and bone skull beads. (The chain necklace I'm also wearing is a personal piece and not for sale.)
--One braided leather belt, black and red, 60" long, may be extended as necessary (this may cost extra due to extra materials costs and labor).
--One real grey wolf tail, 22" long, with a black leather braided belt loop that will accommodate up to a 1 3/4" wide belt. Unlike my other belt tails, this one is not attached to the belt but is removable.
--One 9 1/2" long knife made with a water buffalo horn blade and a wolf jaw handle, with wolf fur detail. The 11" long sheath is made of a real wolf paw with claws and black leather, a ceramic stag pendant, and leather belt loops.
--One belt pouch, 4 3/4" x 5 1/2", made of black leather and wolf fur, with black leather belt loops.
--One "basket" made of a wolf fur and black leather pouch, 6 1/2" x 8", and an 18" long shed elk antler.
--One "lantern" made of a secondhand canning jar with pretty faceting in the glass, a faux tealight powered with a battery (I will include a second tealight with battery as backup), and dried sphagnum moss to help camouflage the side of the candle so it looks like it just has a glow in there. This can be suspended from the end of the antler with a custom-made leather "harness".
--As with all my creations, free repair, no matter how stupid the reason.

What you will need to complete the costume (unless you're going VERY risque!):

--A corset or other top (I also had a long sleeve thermal underneath since it's CHILLY out!
--Stockings
--Boots (this really was made for an awesome, stompy pair of boots--I suggest not ruining the look with something uber-femme like heels. This is a woman who's out to go hunting, not sit in a parlor being pretty!)

This is by far the most elaborate project I've taken on. Last year I had wanted to do a lupine-themed Red Riding Hood mythpunk costume, but ended up doing something entirely different for personal use. However, this year I took the idea and ran with it, and decided that I'd offer it up for sale since it's a really good example of a number of my artistic styles and skills, and I'm ready and raring to make more costumery anyway! So help me make some room (and funds) for even better projects in the future!
