The Haviland Company began in 1839, when a young and prominent - David Haviland was selling wealthy New Yorkers fine china, imported from Europe. One day a beautiful cup was presented to him. He was immediately enchanted with the quality and beauty of this fine porcelain and decided he must track down the maker. After much searching, he found himself in Limoges, France. A town that had been crafting amazing porcelain pieces for over 75 years! It was here, David found his true passion and shortly after opened his own factory in Limoges. Later one of David's sons - Theordore opened up operation in New York and continued production in France.
According the backstamp on these plates, these were made in 1903! And considering their age, they are in good vintage condition. One plate does have a chip on the underside, the others are chip and crack free with no crazing. The gold trim is faded but I love this effect! Very charming and slightly rustic. The plates measure 9" in diameter.
