Long ago, in the ancient world of the Ojibwe Nation, all tribes were located on Turtle Island. Eventually, they dispersed, to fulfill a prophecy. However, Asibikaashi (Spider Woman) found it difficult to journey to care for her children and grandchildren. Thus, her daughters began weaving these magical webs for their children. The hole, at the center, allows for good dreams to pass through, while bawedjigewin (bad dreams) are filtered out.
