Recently, a customer of mine (a new 'wet shaving' fan) asked if I could design a shaving mug for him. The result of our collaboration was the prototype for this lovely shaving mug.

I threw this shaving mug on the wheel from white stoneware and added groves on the inside to help the brush infuse air into the lather. I decorated the mug with a mustache-adorned medallion (I carved the mustache stamp myself) and added a handle which can also be used to store a shaving brush. The mug is glazed in a semi-matte blue glaze I developed myself (the foot-ring of the mug is unglazed). The bottom of the mug is stamped with my studio logo (Rincon Pottery) and my maker's mark ('M' for Miri).
I mix all my glazes from scratch, so I know exactly what is in them! The glazes I use are food safe and do not include lead or other toxic materials. If you so desired, this shaving mug can be safely put in the microwave and dishwasher.
PLEASE NOTE:
The handle was designed to store a Van Der Hagen Boar Bristle Brush (pictured, but NOT included). You can also just lay your brush across the handle if you prefer.
