The locks are between 4-5" long.
The natural dyes I use are entirely safe and I do not use dangerous mordants. Alum and cream of tarter were applied first to enable the dye to attached to the fiber. This is called mordanting.
The cochineal is first steeped, then filtered to leave behind a scarlet dye. The mordanted locks are then steeped together to produce this eye popping red color. This produces locks that are not only safe to use for children's items but also safe for the environment.
The close up shot shows the the locks more purple than what they are. It is a bright red color in real life.
Please buy all that you need as this colorway is NOT repeatable.
