Beautiful shoes with white satin uppers, leather inside and on the sole, with metal taps on the heels. The color is a beautiful slightly off-white, and they would make gorgeous evening or bridal shoes. A graceful, thin stiletto heel and a their slender silhouette make them timeless.
They are made in France for Christian Dior Souliers, and were sold exclusively by Grieder as the label says. Grieder still is THE store in Zurich for designer clothing. It's still family-owned and has been around for a long time. If anyone carried Dior wares in the 1960s, it would only have been Grieder.
These shoes would look amazing with the wonderful, elegant white 1960s wedding or evening dress I have currently listed as well: http://www.etsy.com/listing/83734069/1960s-elegant-sequinned-eggshell-white
Measurements: Size marked 6 1/2 A, but please refer to actual measurements:
Length inside from heel to toe: 9 3/4 inches / 24.8 cm
Width inside across the ball: 2 3/4 inches / 7 cm
Heel height: 2 3/4 inches / 7 cm
Dating: around mid-1960s
(while this is no exact science, but this is what I suppose upon checking style, material, fit etc. - thanks for dating advice also to the vintage specialists at the Vintage Fashion Guild, vintagefashionguild.org)
Condition: absolutely great - from the condition of the sole, I would say they were never really worn. The slight traces of use on them are probably from someone trying them on and walking around a few steps. Plus there is a small mark on each sole where a small price label used to be. By removing it, the color was sadly removed also. There are a few faint marks on the satin (mainly on the vamp), possibly from storage, and along the heels, which might be from glue seeping over, and what looks to be a tiny bit of rust on the metal tabs. Also, there is a red "X" mark inside each shoe on the inner side of the heel, probably made with a marker. Please refer to my photos and ask me if you have any doubts.
