This Art Quilt has truely been a labor of love for me. I have always adored the many colors that nature has included within the the rain forest region. This was my inspiration for this series. In this Art Quilt I have added many layers of cotton fabrics and raw silk.. Some are hand dyed, some hand painted pieces ,some commerical fabrics and layers and layers of embriodery stitching. The embroidered embellishments was months of enjoyable labor for me because I love needle and thread in my hand. To me the actual touch of the hand work is what really can bring the piece of fiber art to its beauty and value.This art is worked on top of a 100% cotton batting as well as all cottons that are used. I have included lots of lovely fibers, silk, rayons, cotton threads of many beautiful colors. Some of the colors included are azure, cobalt, blueviolet, french, sapphine blues. There are violet, plum, amethyst colors. Also included are banana, topaz, lemon, amber, apricot, nutmeg, apple, pastachio honeydew, lime, chestnut and ruby red just to a name a few. There are lots more, just to many to name. This quilt has been signed,dated and would be a lovely addition to any room, office or studio space. The backing is cotton also and done in an art quilt binding technique. The size is 13.5"x 21.5" a perfect size to add an art piece to any space that needs something special. This Art Quilt can only increase in value to become an especially beautiful heirloom.
