These handmade earrings are a collaboration between me and an Etsy metal artist named Nese who lives in Turkey! I love and admire her work, so I buy my ear wires from a very talented craftswoman! Nese's handmade oxidized hoop ear wires with spirals provide the perfect stage to show off my little ceramic 'beads'.
SIZE: Please see ruler with earrings in 3rd picture. The ceramic beads are about 1/2" diameter and the copper hoops are about 1.5" long.
CREATION DETAILS: I 'hand-built' these ceramic earrings using my dark brown stoneware clay and my fingers. They are glazed in robin's egg which is green or blue, depending upon the light. The back is not glazed and you can see the dark brown stoneware clay. They are high fired and very durable.
HOW I PUT DECORATIONS ON MY POTTERY: I print my own laser decals on a laser printer and it's the iron oxide of the toner that burns into the pots in a special 3rd kiln firing. All of my pots are high fired to cone 5 for durability and are dishwasher and microwave safe. Also, only lead-free glazes are used.
