Lavender Naturally Dyed Leicester Longwool - 3.5 Ounces

Leicester Longwool locks meet Cochineal extract with the addition of baking soda in the rinse water and this is the result. Beautiful lavender curls ready to adorn you felting, multimedia, or spinning project. These particular locks have cotted at the base of the locks. My loss is your gain as I have discounted this batch.

They are between 4-5" long.

The natural dyes and extracts I use are entirely safe and I do not use dangerous mordants. Alum and cream of tarter were applied first to enable the dye to attached to the fiber. This is called mordanting.

The cochineal is first steeped, then filtered to leave behind a scarlet dye. The mordanted locks are then steeped together to produce the red color. Then the locks are rinsed with the addition of baking soda to transform the red to this smooth lavender. This produces locks that are not only safe to use for children's items but also safe for the environment.
