They are between 4-5" long.
The natural dyes and extracts I use are entirely safe and I do not use dangerous mordants. Alum and cream of tarter were applied first to enable the dye to attached to the fiber. This is called mordanting.
The cochineal is first steeped, then filtered to leave behind a scarlet dye. The mordanted locks are then steeped together to produce the red color. Then the locks are rinsed with the addition of baking soda to transform the red to this smooth lavender. This produces locks that are not only safe to use for children's items but also safe for the environment.
Please buy all that you need as this colorway is NOT repeatable.
