This cord was made by myself (known as Katla Hase in the SCA world) and my friend and teacher of sorts Dubh Easa na Inishmore (Dana Warder-Ellenwood in the mundane world). She has taught me Viking Whipcord, Viking Chain Knitting and more! She is a seamstress as well as having many other talents. When you buy from "The Feather and Scale" tab you are either buying a handmade creation made by Dana or a product that she is giving to sell to raise funds to make her beautiful creations. You can even find more of her creations and other things she is up too when you look up "The Feather and Scale" fan page on Facebook.
This is a single strand piece (meaning each string has been wound once on each bobbin) made using ttwo sets of purple and two sets of black. Viking Whipcord is done EVERY INCH by hand and has minor flaws. When throwing bobbins at each other there are bound to be a few wonderful little characteristics added. If you want perfection then seek out a soulless piece of factory made cord. Handmade is always the way to go in my opinion! Support Handmade Artisans!
Viking Whipcord can be used for trim, award cords, pendant cords, laces and more. It is unique and fun and is perfect for just a little color along seam lines or as a hint of decoration on any article of clothing. I saw one woman at an SCA event use it as a trim on her seam and it was beautiful without being overwhelming or overly decorative. The perfect addition to her Norse garb. To use just measure the piece you want, tie the end and cut after the knotted piece to ensure the braid stays in piece.
You will receive approximately 94 inches of this lovely whipcord.
