Merry Christmas! This temari is just over 2 inches in diameter, wrapped in deep midnight blue thread and hand embroidered with a sparkling and dainty pattern in glistening silver metallic thread. This ball is perfect for Christmas decorations and lightweight enough to hang from any Christmas tree.
A perfectly unique gift idea for the person that has everything or a wonderful addition to your own Christmas ornament collection.
Please note: This temari already has a hanging thread as these are lightweight ornaments (this can be easily snipped off for a unique art piece to display on a candle holder, tucked in a basket, or with a group of other temari).
Stunning and beautiful to display anywhere, these are fabulous conversation pieces, modern design items, memorable and unique gifts, or cherished heirlooms!
Temari is the ancient Japanese folk art of silk embroidered thread balls, originally made by noble women from silken threads pulled from old kimonos. The unique band around the center of this temari is called an "obi" for the sash worn around the waists of traditional Japanese kimonos! Used originally hundreds of years ago for child's play, today the art of temari is becoming more regarded around the world.
I hand-wrap each ball first with yarn, then thread, then stitch my own modern version of the traditional Japanese designs with silky cotton embroidery threads. I am passionate about bringing together modern color schemes, unique designs, and precise stitching details into my art.
Shipped first class in a unique gift basket along with a brief history of the craft.
