Title: What To Do On a Starless Night No. 2

Components of this piece include: an aged wooden drawer (that I believe came from
a sewing machine cabinet), the gingerbread on top is part of a vintage bookend, the
moon face is framed by an old pocket watch bezel (with a yellowed and scuffed plastic
crystal), a faceted glass star (that catches light beautifully), nicely patinated brass box feet,
a piece of mica (with natural inclusions) covers the dictionary definition.

It measures 15" tall (including the gingerbread and feet), 4 1/4" wide, 2 1/2" deep.
Hard to see in the photos is that the sky is stepped out from the back of the box, the
hills are stepped out from the background, and the woman and balloon are stepped
out from the hills.

Long ago, when I was an exuberant youth, I made a short animated film.
It included a theme similar to this piece (imagine stars from an American flag floating by
balloon into the dark night….) the impetus being an election night failure. I had worked
long and hard for my chosen candidate only to watch the dismal results of that election
night pop all of my naive hopes.

Often, the hardest part of listing a piece is trying to decide how much information to offer.
Now being a wee bit wiser in my approach to life I offer you a gentle way to contemplate
and catalyze a wish.

Feel free to contact me with questions.

FYI: I still root for the underdog.
