This piece looks stunning on a wooden base (cherry compliments the patina quite nicely), hung from a wall, or added to a glass curiousity case. When I first started carving this one, I imagined that I would use it in a planter and train a jade plant to grow through the hole.
Note: This piece was made from the pelvis of a deer skeleton that I found on the property near my home, hence surface inconsistencies and natural color variations are to be expected. I treat these pieces with reverence as they were once living creatures. I like to think that my carvings are a way to give the animal a second life through art.
I split this pelvis in two and carved each side individually. Photo #5 shows what I did with the other half, which is also available on Etsy.
