Built from a buckram foundation and hand stitched using traditional millinery techniques, the form is covered with luscious black velveteen fabric. The top of the hat has been tucked, sculpted and stitched in place to create a charming puckered effect.
A gorgeous vintage satin ribbon in mottled tones of grey and black surrounds the base of the crown and is accompanied by a dainty scalloped black lace. Both ribbon and lace are also used to create a lovely center rosette.
A wonderful vintage black specialty woven ribbon is hand stitched along the edge the brim.
The hat is approximately 12 inches wide and 12.5 inches long. The height is approximately 5.5 inches. The brim is approximately 2.5 inches wide. The piece is fully lined in black rayon lining fabric (additional photos available upon request).
The headsize is approximately 21 inches.

To measure your hat size: Use a flexible tape measure to measure around your head at the level you like to wear your hats. This is usually about 3/4 of an inch above the ears or about an inch above the eyebrows, but it depends on your preference. Allow a comfortable amount of flex in the tape measure while measuring. Take care not to pull the measuring tape too tightly; you want to measure a comfortable circumference around your head. Use your head size measurement to compare to the hat measurement in the listing to determine if the hat will fit you comfortably.
